MTD Products Inc. is recalling 1,774 units of self-propelled walk-behind lawn mowers for potential fire hazard, according to a statement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The company said the lawnmower can leak fuel when stored in an upright (vertical) storage position to pose a fire hazard. However, he has not received any incident or injury reports involving the recalled product.
The recall involves Troy-Bilt SpaceSavr self-propelled lawn mowers that are black in color with the Troy-Bilt name on the engine shroud and bagger. The TB220BXP SpaceSavr model number (12AVU2V3B66) can be found on the white nameplate located on the rear door.
The recalled lawn mowers were manufactured in the United States by MTD Products Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio.
The lawn mowers were sold at Menards and various other home improvement and hardware stores across the United States and online at Menards.com from January 2022 to March 2022 for approximately $410.
The company advised consumers to stop using the lawn mower, store it horizontally only, and contact the store where they purchased it or Troy-Bilt to receive a full refund.
In April, MTD Products also recalled approximately 6,200 units of Craftsman 30″ Mini and Troy-Bilt TB30 lawn mowers due to a potential accident hazard. Ride-on mowers may not completely stop and continue to traveling at approximately one mile per hour with the clutch/brake pedal fully depressed, posing a risk of a low-speed accident.
