Man on lawn mower hit by car and seriously injured


LAKE COUNTY, IL – A 62-year-old man was seriously injured after a car hit his lawn mower on Route 59 on Saturday night near Lake Villa.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Highway 59 and Amber Way in unincorporated Lake Villa. The man was driving a Craftsman riding mower that had no light and was also wearing dark-colored clothing, police said.

A 2010 Ford Escape heading south on Route 59 struck the riding mower. An ambulance took the man, who suffered life-threatening injuries, to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, according to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The Escape driver, a 40-year-old woman in Spring Grove, was uninjured. Three children inside the vehicle were also not injured.

The accident is still under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Accident Investigation Unit.
