Outdoor supply stores are experiencing shortages and price increases. Ty’s Outdoor Power said the pandemic created supply chain problems.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – If you need a lawn mower this summer, you might have a hard time getting your hands on some models.
“A lot of our equipment that we sell has been affected by supply chain issues,” said Ty Lisiecki, owner of Ty’s Outdoor Power. “It creates a backlog and things come very slowly, orders come back for weeks or even months.”
Things like tillers, lawn mowers, backpack blowers, and chainsaws are just a few of the items in short supply. Lisiecki said the prices for these items had increased by nearly three percent.
During the pandemic, factories closed. The owner said there were always people not working, making it difficult to fill the supply chain. Companies like Honda have reduced their supply of mowers. Ty’s Outdoor Power typically offers around 10-20 different models of walk-behind mowers. This year Honda is only making five models in total.
COVID-19 has broken the global supply chain. Semiconductors and roofing materials are also scarce. Lisiecki said he has asked other Lincoln companies to request products from him.
“We’re not leaving a lot of products to help other dealerships because we don’t know what the next few months will look like. “
Lisiecki has worked in the outdoor industry for 18 years and has never seen it like this.
“New equipment sales are going to be different this year,” said the owner. “We need to strategize and do our best to get around this problem. “
